How to design football field lights?

High Schools are scrambling to fix a problem with their football field lights, that came up suddenly.

The twelve wooden poles, eight at the football field and four at the softball field, are about sixty years old and decayed to the point where they may fall over in a strong wind.

Superintendent says they knew the poles were badly deteriorated, and contracted with a Michigan company to inspect them.

The company condemned the poles and determined they must be replaced before anyone of allowed on either field.

With softball games still being played, those four poles were cut down last weekend.

The football field lights and poles will be removed in a week or so.

In the meantime, the track team has been going to Mehock Field in Mansfield.

The Lucas School Board meets Sunday to approve one of several price quotes to replace the poles and lights.

The new football field lights should be ready for next season.

The estimated cost is $120,000 to $180,000.

The schools have money in the permanent improvement and general funds to cover the expense.
