Fin design of round aluminum heat sink for led light

The round aluminum heat sink is designed as a sunflower shape and fin shape, not only to increase the contact area with the heat source absorbing more heat, but also increase the contact area between heat sink in led lights and air in order to disperse heat to the air more quickly.

Here people may wonder if the thicker fins are, the better cooling effect will be.

Absolutely not, the round heat sink of the whole area is finite. Thus, more fins means that there’re more contact areas to absorb more heat, but it also means that the spacing between the fins is shorter. the air flow velocity of each channel is slower as well, which results in difficulty of dispersing heat to the air.
